We love a good mix of natural stones. In our living room, it’s not just the Arabescato Gold marble coffee tables that catch the eye — the burgundy marble fireplace gets its fair share of attention too. We love combining it with decorative pieces in brown onyx and beige travertine. The result? A look that’s unapologetically us — refined, personal, and effortlessly luxurious.

We do the same in the kitchen. Of course, the marble countertop, backsplash and kitchen island steal the show. But even here, we’re not afraid to add other natural stone accents.
A Calacatta bowl holds our daily dose of fruit, and a matching wine cooler keeps the Friday drinks chilled at the bar. Next to the stove, you’ll find a travertine tray for spices and a matching pot for kitchen tools. And honestly, nothing beats a laid-back mix of serving boards in different sizes and shades, casually leaning against the backsplash.
It gives the kitchen a warm, lived-in, and inviting vibe. Around here, snacks appear on the table in no time. Yes — served in style. On marble, of course.

Marble makes an appearance in the entryway too — obviously. We used square Carrara marble tiles on the floor, and a beige travertine bowl as a catch-all. The perfect spot for keys, sunglasses, receipts, and whatever else life throws at you on the way in.
Upstairs on the landing, a pink marble Vida vase steals the show. A color you might not expect in an otherwise black-and-white space — which is exactly why we love it.

And yes, you either love marble or you don’t… even our laundry room features a marble accent. A Calacatta “ashtray” we use to drop our wedding rings or jewelry before hopping in the shower.

The tiles upstairs came with the house. We think they’re kind of quirky, but they’re tricky to work with. Definitely not our style — but hey, we’re rolling with it.
Our bedroom still isn’t quite where we want it to be, so that’s on the list. A few elements are staying though: the wall color, the wooden headboard, and yes — of course — the marble columns flanking the bed.
For now, let’s focus on what does spark joy: all the natural stone details!

Next to the marble nightstands, you’ll find a small travertine block dish in our bedroom. We love its sleek look — perfect for holding an amber block. Sure, it also works great for jewelry or keys, but hey — we’ve already covered the hallway and laundry room, haven’t we?
For a decorative touch, there’s a smaller brown onyx pot on the side table next to the lounge chair. Not just pretty to look at, but also ideal for setting the mood. Pop in a candle, and voilà — instant romance and a dreamy, intimate vibe.

Last but not least: our favorite spots in the house.
Derkan is a full-on film freak and collector. Give him a day off and you’ll find him in his movie room — either watching the latest blockbuster, his all-time favorite guilty pleasure, or an Oscar-worthy classic (for the tenth time).
John joins in every now and then, but by the time Derkan’s ready for round two, John’s already soaking in the tub. Priorities.

You can probably guess: when it comes to natural stone, we always go for the real deal. Don’t come to us with marble-look tiles or anything trying to fake that natural vibe — nothing beats the real thing. That’s why travertine is such a great choice. It’s timeless, calming, and brings a sense of serenity — exactly what you want in a bathroom.
We’ve kept that sense of calm by choosing accessories in the same material or within the same color palette. For example, we had a shower door made from brown smoked glass, and next to the wood accents, we use a soap dish and toothbrush holder — both crafted from beige travertine. It’s all about those subtle details that tie everything together, without shouting for attention.

The movie room is the ultimate hangout. We kept the natural stone accents a bit more low-key here — the space is mostly taken up by a wall-to-wall sofa, shelves full of films, and a big projection screen.
But of course, marble still made the cut.
Right in the center of the room stands our Play side table — a playful take on the classic crate design, housing our favorite movie soundtracks on vinyl. Stylish and functional. The perfect spot for a glass of wine and a bowl of popcorn.
And then there’s the little black marble block dish, just sitting there looking fabulous. Natural stone often doesn’t need much. That’s been our philosophy since we started Stoned Amsterdam back in 2015.
Marble speaks for itself — no frills needed.
And yes, we still stand by that.
